Yandex confirms service outage after drone attacks hit data centers

Russian cloud services provider Yandex has officially confirmed a significant service outage that left numerous users unable to access their cloud-stored files.

According to the company, recent drone attacks caused physical damage to three of its data centers. This forced administrators to completely shut down two facilities and partially disable a third to prevent further damage.

As reported by BleepingComputer, the unexpected downtime disrupted standard operations and highlighted the vulnerabilities inherent in centralized cloud storage infrastructures.

Engineering teams are currently mobilized to repair the damaged hardware, secure the facilities, and progressively restore full functionality to the affected cloud environments.

Incidents of this scale serve as a stark reminder of the critical need for robust disaster recovery plans and heightened physical security measures across the broader tech and cloud industry.
